Appointment preparation

Prepare for a healthcare appointment

Organize your questions and records, and learn how to check a clinician's credentials. BHI does not find, match or book clinicians.

Before your next appointment

  1. Choose your priorities. Write down the two or three concerns that most affect daily life, when they began, and what has changed.
  2. Bring your records together. Include medicines and supplements, prior test results, diagnoses, and treatments you have tried.
  3. Ask about the next step. Ask your clinician what needs evaluating, who will coordinate any referrals, and how you will receive results or follow up.

Read a plain-language condition guide for what current evidence shows and what to note for a visit, keep a daily symptom log, or use the visit preparation worksheet to gather your priorities, medicines, and questions.
